Asian Pop Divas for June

June 30, 2008 · 3 Comments

Namie Amuro from Japan and  Joey Yung from Hong Kong both released the music videos of their singles this month and they are hot. Amuro’s “Black Diamond” herself and Double as femme fatales who stole the precious black diamond right in front of the crowd while performing. On the other hand Yung’s “On the Treadmill” took a rather colorful approach and have her stick to the beat. They’re definitely spicing it up for Asia!

Under Chaos: Don’t Mess With Cows

June 29, 2008 · 3 Comments

If you liked the oddly hipnotic Dancing Animals in love by Ben Meinhardt, you would probably like this one. Under Chaos is created by Vancouver Film School student Michelle Clement through the VFS Classical Animation program. It features a Winnie the Pooh-like cow who can makes ice-cream out of its body and it turned into a blood bath milk bath when a huge group of children were asking for ice-cream.

P.S. If you have a dirty mind you would probably think of something dirty at the end of the clip.

Mars Soil for Asparagus but not Strawberries

June 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander discovered that a sample of Martian dirt contained several soluble minerals, including potassium, magnesium and chloride. This means the soil in Mars may have enough nutrients to grow plants. Asparagus would grow happily in it, scientists say.

BBC reports: “We basically have found what appears to be the requirements for nutrients to support life,” said Phoenix’s wet chemistry lab lead, Sam Kounaves of Tufts University. “This is the type of soil you’d probably have in your backyard. You might be able to grow asparagus pretty well, but probably not strawberries.”

Enjoy Your Home Spa

June 25, 2008 · 4 Comments

We all love to pamper ourselves once in a while don’t we? It helps us relax and leaves our skin healthy and smooth, but not all of us have spa appointments all planned out in our schedules and sometimes the cost can be a bitch. Besides, what’s better to do at home than having a nice up of tea, a book you enjoy and a DIY home spa when it’s raining outside?

For your body:

Milk Bath
You’ll need:

* 8 cups powdered milk
* 1 cup oatmeal
* 1 cup ground almonds
* 1 cup cornmeal

Mix the ingredients together and store in a sealed container. When you’re ready to use it, scoop the desired amount onto a cheesecloth (or something like a J-Cloth) and tie it securely. Drop it into the bathtub before filling it with water. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for added relaxation. A milk bath keeps your body moisturized and soft.

Papaya Body Polish
The papaya contains enzymes that soften and revitalize the skin when absorbed and help remove dead, flaking skin.

All you need to do is puree a ripe papaya (including the skin) and spread it over your body without rubbing. Wrap yourself in a plastic sheet for 20 minutes and allow your body to sweat. Wash it off and enjoy your soft skin!

For your Face:

Avocado Mask

Mash the creamy insides of one avocado into a soft paste and apply to your face using the avocado pit to massage the paste into your skin using small, upward, circular motions. Leave on for a few minutes then wash off with warm water. Avocados are naturally rich in vitamin E and leave your skin feeling soft.
