SO-U.TV brings you to another cool party this week. On 22 July HK Alley Cats Watch hosted Glamour Puss Party for the forth times to raise money for helping the plight of Hong Kong’s street cats. It includes great prizes and an auction of a hunky bachelor (or was he a stripper? Nah, his stripping doesn’t look professional to me).
Preppy Olympics uniforms? Yes it’s here and it’s by Ralph Lauren! The velvet leotards, the flips and the landings are all oh so lovable! Standard red, white and navy blue are used (and they compliment each other perfectly). No doubt the American team of this year’s Olympics will look preppier than ever. The opening-ceremony look consists of classy navy blazers with white driving hats and canvas walking shoes; for the closing ceremonies, it’s classic polos and sleeveless sweaters.
So it’s summer time and for those who rather stay in air-conditioned homes, here are some reading suggestions. They are not new so chances are you might have already read them, that’s why I’m listing out books that are good for re-reading. If you haven’t read them, you should. If you have, you would most likely agree on the fact that they are those who worth the time to be re-read.
Poppy Shakespeareby Clare Allan: You are probably wondering; “Wait, isn’t that a movie shown on Channel 4 starring Anna Maxwell Martin (Doctor Who, Becoming Jane) and Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean, Miami Vice) from the producers of The Last King of Scotland ? Yes, and if you liked this laid-back fun TV movie directed by Benjamin Ross, chances are you are going to like the original more-in-depth novel. As the Guardian put it; “Catch-22 meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest…an electrifying debut…surreal, raucous, infuriating and very funny.”
Author preferred text version of American Gods byNeil Gaiman: I don’t think I need to say much about this one. It’s good, it’s grand and you’ve probably read it. Winner of the HUGO, NEBULA, BRAM STOKER, SFX and LOCUS awards, has written this novel of large themes with rich imagination. If you fell in loved with the novel, you might want to try the author’s preferred text. This version of American Gods is about twelve thousand words longer than the on that won all the awards, and it’s the version of which Gaiman is the most proud. Indulge yourself with this untrimmed version of American Gods this summer with a glass of long island iced tea!
So people didn’t just love Miss Universe 2008 and Crystal Stewart’s fall, but also its music. Here are the two official music videos of the songs used. Robin Thicke’s Magic as heard in the night gown competition and Lady Gaga’s Just Dance (featuring Colby O’Donis and Akon) as heard in the bikini competition.
On one hand we have platinum seller, R&B and soul singer, songwriter, musician, composer, and occasional actor Robin Thicke. On the other we have 22-year old dance-pop and electronica musician who has written songs for Pussycat Dolls. I sure am looking forward to more music face offs between the two.
Okay, So I’ve never been a fan of Rihanna’s vocal ability. Yet she always manage to get good songs so I just had to put up with her. I would be so much happier if her songs were sung by other artists that actually CAN sing (Rachel Stevens would be my first choice to take over her songs). Anyway, back to Rihanna and Disturbia. Another new video from her album, Good Girl Gone Bad. It’s another catchy dance song like S.O.S. and Pon de Replay. If you like those you’re gonna like this, and I suppose this song will go around for weeks (naturally for Rihanna). Moving on to the video, got some make-up, a little creepy, dark and dirty while letting Rihanna look good in it. It’s a nice pop video, but I don’t feel the Disturbia. Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum….
Upon their successful first album, The Dø has just released their second music video ‘At last‘. Watch out for oranges, because you get many of them in this video. The story revolve around people in the dance floor with unwhole oranges trying to find the remainding half/ perfect match. The smart thing is that the video points out the ‘perfect match’ dose not necessarily be who you want it to be. You see people fighting just to try to squeeze their oranges to make it fit. Of course, the perfect match may also be of the same sex or a totally different age group, because there are no rules.
