Wanna Go For David Beckham’s Fishfingers?

David Beckham has just launched his own line of healthy food GO3. While its vocal point is to get as much Omega-3 as you can, the diet also contains wholewheat and vegetables.

Daily Mail UK reports:

“Beckham has been blamed in the past for the rise in child obesity in the UK after appearing in ads for brands like Pepsi and Walkers crisps.

He said: ‘As a Dad I know how hard it is to get kids to eat the right things.

‘I also know as a footballer, how important it is to eat the right things to perform well, so I think the GO3 range is a great way to help families take some small steps to be fit and healthy at affordable prices.'”

He’s fit alright.

Amazing Photography: Dolphin Giving Birth

Dolphins usually give birth during night time in private, not this dolphin apparently. According to Telegraph UK, “This Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) unusually gave birth in broad daylight and close to a viewing window so that photographer Leandro Stanzani had a grandstand view. The calf emerged tail first – so it does not breathe in water – and was able to see and swim immediately. The calf began feeding very quickly taking in the vital colostrum which allows it to build up its immune system.“

It’s just beautiful.

The New Lara Croft: Alison Carroll

The UK receptionist/gymnast Alison Caroll has just been announced as the new face of Lara Croft. No more Angelina Jolie? Not quite, according to the Telegraph:

“But Carroll has not landed a movie role – instead she will promote the new Tomb Raider video game, Underworld, which is released in November. Nell McAndrew found fame as the first Lara Croft model in the 1990s. Carroll will star in TV adverts and travel the world to meet Lara Croft fans.

“This is a fantastic opportunity and I am really looking forward to embracing Lara’s world,” she said. “I still can’t believe they chose me to take on the role of Lara – and I can’t wait to get stuck in. This is my dream job. I have always wanted to be an action hero and hope to be able to use my gymnastic ability to perform all of Lara’s stunts.”

Tom Brady Puts On A Suit For Esquire

No he didn’t! Yes he did! The New England Patriots QB, Tom Brady, throws himself into a suit for this month’s Esquire.

On God and football: “When you try to combat everything, at the end of the day you realize that you’re responsible for yourself…Look at the attention I get: It’s because I throw a football. But that’s what society values. That’s not what God values. He didn’t invent the game. We did. I have some eye-hand coordination, and I can throw the ball. I don’t think that matters to God.“

Chad White as Icarus for OUT

For OUT’s September issue, photographer Francois Rousseau remade the myth with Chad White as a fashion forward Icarus. Icarus was the son of Daedalus, who crafted two sets of wax wings so he and his son could escape exile in Crete. He warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, which Icarus did. Icarus fell into the sea. Of course, he wasn’t wearing a feather scarf by Burberry Prorsum at the time.

Read, Read and Read

So it’s summer time and for those who rather stay in air-conditioned homes, here are some reading suggestions. They are not new so chances are you might have already read them, that’s why I’m listing out books that are good for re-reading. If you haven’t read them, you should. If you have, you would most likely agree on the fact that they are those who worth the time to be re-read.

Poppy Shakespeare by Clare Allan: You are probably wondering; “Wait, isn’t that a movie shown on Channel 4 starring Anna Maxwell Martin (Doctor Who, Becoming Jane) and Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean, Miami Vice) from the producers of The Last King of Scotland ? Yes, and if you liked this laid-back fun TV movie directed by Benjamin Ross, chances are you are going to like the original more-in-depth novel. As the Guardian put it; “Catch-22 meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest…an electrifying debut…surreal, raucous, infuriating and very funny.”

Author preferred text version of American Gods by Neil Gaiman: I don’t think I need to say much about this one. It’s good, it’s grand and you’ve probably read it. Winner of the HUGO, NEBULA, BRAM STOKER, SFX and LOCUS awards, has written this novel of large themes with rich imagination. If you fell in loved with the novel, you might want to try the author’s preferred text. This version of American Gods is about twelve thousand words longer than the on that won all the awards, and it’s the version of which Gaiman is the most proud. Indulge yourself with this untrimmed version of American Gods this summer with a glass of long island iced tea!
