Wicked Coming to Big Screen

The popular and totally wicked Broadway musical Wicked is moving on to big screen, following other successful musicals such as Chicago, Hairspray and Mama Mia!

According to Paybill News, this new production will be handled by Marc Platt Productions for Universal Pictures: “Universal Pictures production president Donna Langley told the industry paper, “Our goal now is absolutely to make the Wicked film, but much like Judy Craymer wouldn’t give up screen rights to Mamma Mia! until the stage show had reached its pinnacle, Marc and Stephen Schwartz are very mindful of the right timing. But we’re dying to do it.”

Below is the clip Defying Gravity from the musical by the London cast. Just to remind you how amazing the musical is:

For part nine of Crazy Man’s Ju-Ju, Jason Mraz cunningly slipped in his second music video from his latest album, We Sing We Dance We Steal Things. The video is done by “London’s Ju-Ju editor Jennifer Sheridan and co-director Gille Klabin. They dragged Jason and Toca onto a boat on the River Thames in London, to film a very English video to ‘Make it Mine‘. Gnomie got involved and so should you.”

Not surprisingly, Banksy works exceed expectations at London urban art auctions. Two spray paintings by Banksy were sold for an above-estimate 120,000 pounds ($234,000) each in a London sale of urban art recently.

Two pieces of artwork, including the one on the left, had been expected to fetch up to 50,000 pounds and 80,000 pounds each. Both were bought by telephone bidders. The 146-lot sale in an industrial space in Shoreditch, east London, the first of its type ever organized by a regional auction house, totaled 801,204 pounds with fees against an estimate of 672,000 pounds to 977,000 pounds, with 89 percent of the lots sold during the three-hour event, the company said.

First Beaver Dam Seen in England in 800 Years

beaver

They did it! After 800 years with no Beaver dams in England, a pair of them have finally build one recently.

Telegraph UK reports:”The male beaver has been spotted feeding alone some distance from the lodge, whereas the female seems keen to stay close to their home,” he said. “This might suggest that she has young inside, but we won’t know until at least late July when they’re ready to come outside.

We haven’t had beavers here for 800 years because they were hunted to extinction. Now, a year after they came to Escot, they have built a dam and we think they are breeding. We won’t know for sure for a couple of months but it is very encouraging. It really is a superb structure – quite a feat of engineering for two small beavers.”
