Batman Gets Another Milk Moustache

Christian Bale from The Dark Knight became the latest hero to support the “Body by Milk” campaign which was created to encourage teens to stay lean and healthy.

Batman’s ad copy reads: “Others reload. Batman refuels. Research suggests that milk’s unique mix of nutrients can help athletes recover after exercise. And its protein can help build muscle. So train hard and drink lowfat or fat free milk, because the Batmobile isn’t the only thing that needs to refuel.”

The ad launches on June 1. The Dark Knight opens everywhere on July 18.

Pioneer Lesbian Director Bares All In Beijing

Fridae had an interview with one of the most prolific lesbian feminist filmmaker in the history of cinema, Barbara Hammer, was in town for a screening of several of her over 80 experimental shorts, videos and features. It’s there on the screen in all its flushed glory. A close up of a woman’s genitals, a finger vigorously rubs the clitoris.

“As one of the world’s most prolific lesbian filmmakers, Hammer appears keen to inspire these young Chinese women. China’s answer to Hammer, lesbian documentary maker Shi Tou, is in the audience.

“Don’t listen to your male professors,” Hammer says. “Or your female ones. Just do what you want to do… Make your films. Make your work. We need it or your histories are lost. Our histories are lost.”

The Dylan Sevens, now with more attention

i'm not there

It’s been around for a while but since the Film Festival is coming, I figured I should do a piece on it. Directed by Todd Haynes, the Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There garnered attention early for using six actors to portray Dylan over seven different stages of his life. With the untimely death of Heath Ledger (one of the seven Dylans), it’s gotten even more attention. The ultimate question still remans why give the Dylans different names.

In case you still didn’t know, here are the six actors who play the Dylan Sevens:

Marcus Carl Franklin

Ben Whishaw

Heath Ledger

Christian Bale

Richard Gere

Cate Balnchett
