Christian Dior Cell Phones

christian dior phone

It’s official, these $5000 phones manufactured in partnership with ModeLabs feature a touchscreen display, camera and mini-phone extender called My Dior. About the size of a USB key, My Dior is linked to the main one by Bluetooth technology and allows you to take/make calls. It is meant to clip onto the outside of your handbag (tsk tsk to those women who put their cell phones into their Gucci bags full of make-up).

Remember how the Japanese and Korean make crystals on phones popular? The Dior phone also embeds Swarovski crystals, so it says something to the Swarovski lovers out there too.

Touch Diamond

Mobile phone manufacturer HTC this week launched the Touch Diamond, an iPhone like Windows Mobile device that has been lauded for its looks.

“All the most important functions are accessible from the home screen using a simple gesture based touch interface; the graphics and animation are gorgeous. While the faceted physical design is innovative, its little nuances, like turning the phone over to silence an incoming call, that make this a device worth noting.”

Voice-enabled mobile search: YAHOO!

yahoo mobile phone voice enabled

Information Week just published an article on Yahoo adding voice-enabled search on its mobile platform, called OneSearch 2.0, which it plans to roll out to manufacturers beginning this summer. According to the article, “To access the voice service, a person would only have to push the call button on the phone and say a word or phrase to Yahoo’s automated service to get results shipped to the phone. During the demo, saying ‘British Airways 287’ got arrival times, ‘March Madness’ got a list of scores for games played during the college basketball tournament, and ‘3600 Las Vegas Boulevard’ led to a street map and directions.”

But again, we all know how the computers deal with voices and pronunciation. Watch the video below on automated phone sex and you’ll know what I mean.

Sony Ericsson W380i shuts up easily

I think many find it annoying when your phone rings while you’re in class or in a meeting. (Damn it! I forgot to switch my phone to silent mode!) Then you’d need to go through the whole trouble pressing the buttons to turn it off.

Sony Ericsson Walkman phone’s new member, W380i, can help you in this awkward moment. All you need to do is slide your hand over the sensor on its shell, and the phone would immediately shut up and turn itself into silent mode. (Now wouldn’t it be nice if your girlfriend is made this way too)

W380i looks exactly like other clamshell phones. It uses, however, a brand new Walkman On Top design. The shell also includes a hidden OLED monitor on the outside that can show the usual date/time and battery but also songs’ information when it is in the walkman mode. It’s all in the outside so you don’t need to flip the shell all the time like those annoying clamshell phones.
